There is a whole lot of information on the internet on when and where to photograph the Lavender Fields in France. Unfortunately the Chinese films have recently used the Lavender fields for picturizing the heroine dancing and singing in the Lavender fields . Bus loads of Chinese tourists descend on these areas and photography is only possible late in. the evening or early in the morning. Of course the chinese girls are very willing to pose as models for photography !!

Several professional photographers from different parts of Europe and USA are providing guided tours for Lavender field photography.

I did the trip in the first fortnight of July and had gathered from internet the locations for shooting Lavender fields and also some other interesting spots.

Over four days I visited Sault, St Christol , Simiane la Rotande , Gordes, Valensol, Banon, Bonnieux,The Abbey at Senanque, Saignon, Roussilon, St. Remy de Provance, Lacoste, Venasque

I wanted to do a Hot Air Balloon ride from Forcalquier but unfortunately on the day this was planned the weather was not good.

Since I wanted to photograph Flamingoes I took a detour on way to the Marseille Airport and went to Camarague.

I was able to find a Guide cum driver who drove me to all these places. If you are comfortable driving on your own and can manage a bit of spoken and written French then you can do it on your own. But I did not want to drive .

I found nice B&B in Pernes Les Fontaines and Forcalquier. To get to these places it is best to take the TGV to Avignon and then find a rental car or as I did find a guide who is willing to chauffer you to all the places and stop on the country roads where you see the Lavande in bloom.
